Disney+ is A+An incredibly deal. For less than the cost of the average family night out at the movies or 3 Disney physical Blue-ray movies we gain access to a library of 500 movies and over 7,000 TV show episodes for a yearly fee $69.99 or a monthly fee of $7!All of this content is available to on the go with up 4 streams simultaneously. On top having 4 streams the video and audio quality is excellent with 4K HDR + Dolby Vision on nearly every movie which is surprising because some of these titles released recently on Blue-ray lacking Dolby Vision. I can see Disney went all out with this streaming service. You'll also find many of the classic movies from the first Star Wars movie released in 1977 and forward all remastered in 4K!Five of the biggest brands in media are here on a single streaming platform Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic.I'll break down the categories.Disney - The library is extensive with new movies from Frozen to classics like Disney Fantasia.Pixar - Basically everything is here from my personal favorites like Wall-E, Finding Nemo and UP. I couldn't find anything missing!Marvel - You'll find the latest movies from Avengers Endgame to Captain Marvel while other in the Marvel Universe are missing. This is one of two major spots where the service is lacking content think Deadpool, Wolverine and all of the X-Men movies. Some of those movies I believe will be added in the future once licensing issues are worked out others like Deadpool and Logan that are rated R may never be added but we can dream Disney comes to their senses and adds those too but this is "Disney" after all so don't hold your breathe.Star Wars - The library here is extensive from the first Star Wars movie all the way from 1977 to Rogue One. In between you'll find an extensive amount of Star Wars extras from a fan favorite of mine Clone Wars to more kids stuff all the animated Star Wars Lego's series.National Geographic - This is the 2nd place the service is lacking in content. I counted a total of 18 series and 25 movies and nearly all of it not the iconic material National Geographic is known and again tied up in licencing issues with other streaming services for the time being.I tried the streaming service on these following devices and found no problems.Amazons latest 4K HDR streaming stickNvidia Shield TVRoku OS built into a smart TVPlaystation 4I certain if anyone found any problems outside of these media devices I'm near certain Disney is working fast to resolve them. For the value of what we are getting I can't say enough good things about Disney+ and with the amount of money Disney has I expect the library of content to grow fast.Thumbs Up! 5 Star Product

I have not had the opportunity to spend a ton of time on the app (as of this first writing), but so far I love what I see. If I have any additional comments as time goes by I will update the review. While the app is free to download, you do have to pay for a subscription, just like is the case with Netflix, Hulu, etc. It has a big chunk of the Disney catalog (although not everything is available yet), including many of the older movies and shows that people over 40 were growing up with.

There are numerous ways to navigate around the content in the app, such as searching, browsing just TV shows, just movies, and by content (e.g. Star Wars, Marvel, National Geographic, etc.). You can also browse content by the decade of release. One great thing is that you do not have to pay extra for the material that is available in 4K. If you have a 4K television, you can play 4k content without having to upgrade your subscription ala Netflix. Another thing that is really nice is that you get bonus content, mostly for the newer movies, much like would be included with the physical DVD or Blu-ray discs which is sometimes missing when you opt just to stream material.

You also can set up multiple profiles so each person in the house can have their own watchlist, and get their own recommendations based on what is viewed under the profile. And, you can set any additional profiles (there is a pre-set main/default profile that cannot be altered aside from assigning it a name and icon) as a "kids" profile to limit what content can be watched under it. As I mentioned above, each profile can also be assigned an icon of pretty much any character from the shows/movies on the service.

I have not had any of the streaming issues or error messages that some are getting. I was able to download and sign in without a problem, although I did so pretty early in the morning launch day. Overall, you get a ton of content for your money, including movies that are harder to find on physical media because they have gone out of print. It is a great value, especially if you signed up for the three-year deal that was offered a few months, or if you already have Hulu (you can basically pay a dollar per month more (if you subscribe to commercial-free Hulu) to bundle Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+.

One note that after you sign in, it will require you to verify your email address, basically by emailing you a code that you then enter into the app. Although, the system does not make this very obvious because there is not a box that pops up saying verify your email. What happens is, on the menu (which is on a sidebar) there is a settings icon (a gear icon), that will have an exclamation point over it. When you click into the settings you will then see that you have to verify your email, then it will send the code. I am not sure what will happen if you do not verify or how much time you have to do so. Most likely it will kick you out after a while, but it is ultimately a very easy process. I definitely recommend it.

This app is first class, just like pretty much anything else Disney does. Logging into the app is very easy. You can do the traditional login, entering email and password or you can just opened the app on your phone, using the same wifi. That is some next level stuff and one of the only apps to do this.

Even though the app is free, you have to pay a monthly service fee to access the app. The apps has a very high quality picture, but that is more dependent on the Television and Firestick, more than the app. One good thing about the app is that you can lock it down with its parental control and require a PIN to open it. You can create different profiles as well and restrict what content that profile can view. Once you are logged in, the app stays logged in and you can actually link your profile to your Amazon profile. I have never had an issue streaming from this app and everything was high quality

The app has a pretty much all of Disney's programming and has first dibs on their movies that just came out of the theaters before any other streaming service has them. I really like this app. It is easy to navigate and sets the bar high for other apps.

Five of the biggest brands in media are here on a single streaming platform Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic.

I'll break down the categories.

I tried the streaming service on these following devices and found no problems.

Amazons latest 4K HDR streaming stick
Nvidia Shield TV
Roku OS built into a smart TV
Playstation 4

I certain if anyone found any problems outside of these media devices I'm near certain Disney is working fast to resolve them.

For the value of what we are getting I can't say enough good things about Disney+ and with the amount of money Disney has I expect the library of content to grow fast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gute Idee für Fans von Disney-Filmen
Reviewed in Germany on April 7, 2024
